Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II is now available for purchase in the App Store. This is the fifth Sonic game for iOS devices. In Sonic 4: Episode II you and a friend can team up as Sonic and Tails to stop Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman’s evil alliance.

The game features Gamecenter, accelerometer support, Cloud Save, and a special unlock for users who own both Episodes I and II. Sonic 4: Episode II is a universal game compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 4.0 or later.

More and More Reports Confirm That the iPad Mini is Real

The iPad mini refuses to die as more and more credible sources are confirming its existence.

The Wall Street Journal claims that Apple is testing “a new tablet computer with a smaller screen.”

“Officials at some of Apple’s suppliers, who declined to be named, said the Cupertino, Calif., company has shown them screen designs for a new device with a screen size of around eight inches and said the company is qualifying suppliers for it. One person said the smaller device will have a similar-resolution screen as the iPad 2. Apple is working with screen makers including Taiwan-based AU Optronics and LG Display of South Korea to supply the test panels, the person said.”

On Thursday, the Taiwan based The Liberty Times (via Makotakara) reported that both LG Display and AU Optronics have already passed certification tests for iPad mini LCD panel production, and are preparing to ship parts for over 6 million units.

I was a little nervous that I had jumped the gun by announcing that an iPad 3 jailbreak was coming soon, but I guess I was right. Pod2g has announced via his blog that iPad owners can “expect a release in a couple of weeks.”

Pod2g is also finished testing the jailbreak on all the available iOS devices. This means that the next step should be a public release. The iOS hacker tweeted that the untethered jailbreak works on all three iPad models, the iPhone 4 and 4S. The iPod 3G, iPhone 3GS and ATV3 have been left out (UPDATE: See list of supported devices below).

US Postal Service to Ban iPad Shipping Overseas

Starting on May 16 the USPS will ban all international shipments of lithium batteries for safety reasons. Although device manufacturers such as Apple ship their products with a limited charge to help prevent incidents, used iPads and other items shipped by consumers can be dangerous depending on a variety of factors.

Lithium batteries have been responsible for several fires on passenger airplanes and are blamed for two fatal cargo plane crashes in the past five years. As Fast Company points out, the ban will have the largest impact on military members serving overseas. Although FedEx offers delivery service to APO, FPO and DPO addresses, lithium batteries are not allowed.
